Conveyer belt Maintenance

Conveyor belt maintenance includes proper care of the conveyor belt itself and maintenance of the frames and accessories. The work involves trunk belt installations, removal and maintenance. In terms of safety, Chapter 8 of the Mine Health and Safety Act 1996, the code of practice and safe work procedure must be applied.

Maintenance shall include the following:

i) Levelling & lining of belts

ii) Sweeping belts from rib side to rib side

iii) Monitoring, inspection and replacement of belts

iv) Cleaning and stone-dusting of tail ends & belt drives

v) Watering down of belt structures & belt roads

vi) Maintaining dust suppression system at belt drives

vii) Assist with the work on the trunk belts executed by the Employer

viii) Changing of idlers, belt structures, making and maintaining belt joints etc.

ix) Install and maintain belt scrapers
